Water Heater Discharge Line Mistakes
Question: Can A Water Heater’s discharge line run uphill or no?
Answer: No. This particular discharge line runs uphill and is attached to galvanized pipe coming off of the side of the tank. Your water heater’s discharge line for the (T & P) temperature and pressure leaf valve should never run uphill.
This is somewhat of a common installation mistake we see and it should always be avoided. We recommend you have the discharge line replaced and installed correctly, by a qualified water heater installer like All Star Water Heaters Inc, of Southern California.
